Mount Raung via Kalibaru is considered a challenging and technical climbing route. Some sections require proper climbing skills, physical fitness, experience, and appropriate technical equipment.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. BOOKING & RESERVATION

  • A booking is considered confirmed after the required deposit payment has been received.
  • The remaining balance must be paid according to the payment schedule agreed upon at the time of booking.
  • Participants must provide accurate personal information, including full name, contact number, identification details, and emergency contact.
  • Booking confirmation is subject to availability of guides, porters, transportation, camping equipment, and climbing permits.

2. PAYMENT POLICY

  • A 50% deposit is required to confirm the booking.
  • The remaining 50% balance must be paid no later than 7 days before departure.
  • For bookings made less than 7 days before departure, full payment may be required.
  • Prices may change if there are changes in government regulations, entrance fees, permits, transportation costs, or other official charges.

3. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

  • Cancellation by the participant may result in a cancellation fee depending on the cancellation date.
  • The deposit is generally non-refundable once the booking has been confirmed, as it may be used to secure guides, transportation, permits, accommodation, equipment, and other services.
  • No refund will be provided for unused services caused by late arrival, personal reasons, voluntary withdrawal, or failure to participate in the scheduled program.
  • If the tour operator cancels the trip due to safety reasons, government regulations, volcanic activity, extreme weather, or closure of the climbing route, the rescheduling or refund policy will be discussed based on the circumstances and recoverable costs.

4. WEATHER & MOUNTAIN CONDITIONS

  • Mount Raung is a high-altitude and challenging mountain, and weather conditions can change rapidly.
  • The itinerary may be modified, postponed, shortened, or cancelled if conditions are considered unsafe.
  • The final decision regarding climbing, continuing to the summit, turning back, or changing the itinerary will be made by the guide/operator based on safety considerations.
  • Summit success is not guaranteed.
  • Participants are not entitled to a refund simply because they do not reach the summit due to weather, physical condition, trail conditions, or safety considerations.

5. PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

Participants must:

  • Be physically fit and prepared for a strenuous mountain climb.
  • Have adequate climbing and outdoor experience.
  • Follow all instructions from the guide and climbing team.
  • Use appropriate personal climbing equipment.
  • Inform the operator in advance about any relevant physical limitations or conditions that may affect participation.
  • Carry valid identification and any documents required for registration.

6. CLIMBING EQUIPMENT

Participants are responsible for bringing appropriate personal equipment, including:

  • Trekking / climbing shoes
  • Backpack
  • Warm clothing
  • Rain jacket
  • Sleeping bag
  • Headlamp and spare batteries
  • Gloves
  • Personal medication
  • Water bottle / hydration system
  • Personal first-aid supplies
  • Other equipment recommended by the guide

Technical climbing equipment will be provided according to the selected package and route requirements.

7. GUIDE & PORTER

  • Participants must remain with the designated climbing group and follow the guide's instructions.
  • Participants must not leave the group or attempt alternative routes without permission from the guide.
  • Porter services are subject to the selected package.
  • Personal belongings should be properly packed and protected.

8. SAFETY & RESPONSIBILITY

  • Mount Raung via Kalibaru involves steep, narrow, rocky, and technically challenging terrain.
  • Participants understand that mountain activities involve inherent risks, including falls, injuries, fatigue, changing weather, and other natural hazards.
  • The operator will make reasonable efforts to provide a safe and professional service but cannot eliminate all risks associated with mountain climbing.
  • Participants are responsible for following safety instructions throughout the trip.

9. TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel and adventure insurance is strongly recommended for all participants.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their insurance policy provides appropriate coverage for mountain climbing, trekking, emergency evacuation, medical expenses, and trip cancellation where applicable.

10. HEALTH & FITNESS

  • Participants must ensure that they are physically capable of completing a demanding mountain trek.
  • The operator or guide may refuse or stop a participant from continuing if their physical condition presents a significant safety risk to themselves or the group.
  • In such circumstances, additional costs arising from evacuation, transportation, accommodation, or medical assistance may be the participant's responsibility.

11. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

  • Participants are responsible for their personal belongings, valuables, electronic devices, and documents.
  • The operator is not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings unless caused by proven negligence of the operator.

12. ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

All participants must follow Leave No Trace principles:

  • Do not litter.
  • Do not damage plants or wildlife.
  • Do not take natural objects from the mountain.
  • Keep the campsite clean.
  • Respect local communities, guides, porters, and other climbers.

13. ITINERARY CHANGES

The itinerary is subject to change due to:

  • Weather conditions
  • Volcanic activity
  • Trail conditions
  • Government or park regulations
  • Mountain closure
  • Traffic or transportation conditions
  • Participant safety
  • Other circumstances beyond the operator's control

Any changes will be made with participant safety as the highest priority.

14. FORCE MAJEURE

The operator shall not be held responsible for failure or changes to the program caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, volcanic activity, extreme weather, government restrictions, mountain closures, accidents, strikes, or other force majeure events.

15. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By making a booking and paying the deposit, the participant confirms that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions.
  • Agree to follow the instructions of the guide and tour operator.
  • Understand the risks associated with Mount Raung climbing.
  • Accept that reaching the summit is subject to weather and safety conditions.
  • Agree to comply with all applicable mountain regulations.
